50 Ways to Kill Renny Kodgers
– collaboration, The Twilight Girls and Renny Kodgers
23 minute HD video
50 Ways to Kill Renny Kodgers brings The Twilight Girls and Renny Kodgers together in a intense game of murderous ridiculousness. These alter-egos variously operate as play between humour and serious intent in an intermingling of high cultural hypocrisy and trash/ shlock cinema.
The Twilight Girls is the title of the collaboration between Helen Hyatt-Johnston and Jane Polkinghorne. Since 1990 they have used B-grade representations of the body and sexuality and embraced the politically incorrect as a means of undermining notions of celebrity, beauty, taste and aesthetics.
Renny Kodgers is the alter ego of Mark Shorter. Kodgers, an American icon, draws on that long Australian tradition of developing identities, which satirize popular culture and challenge social mores. See more of Mark Shorter’s work here.
